Some of our favorite artists to support this Bandcamp Friday
Welcome to our new series showcasing some of our favorite artists!
This Friday, April 5th, is Bandcamp Friday, a monthly event where Bandcamp gives up their share of revenue and all proceeds go directly to the artist for a day. It’s a great way to support your favorite musicians, and add some great music to your collection. We wanted to highlight a few albums we’ve been listening to recently that you may want to add to your shopping list this Friday.
Frost by Drum & Lace
Drum & Lace is a longtime favorite here at Noise Engineering. Her music is ethereal, with a lovely mix of synthetic sounds blended with real-world instruments and vocals. Along with scoring for an impressive list of film and television projects, her solo discography is a treasure trove of ambient and cinematic works.
Frost is a gorgeous EP, the perfect soundtrack for focus and relaxation. If one album isn’t enough, her most recent releases, Sisters and Solstice, are fabulous singles from her upcoming LP.
Moirai by Delhia de France
Delhia de France has a unique style that combines her slow vocals with cinematic gestures, pop-inspired percussion, and haunting instrumentation. Her solo career has been split between the underground dance worlds of LA and Berlin, and her work with collaborator Robot Koch has been featured in film and TV as well (Marvel, anyone?).
Her debut EP, Moirai, is a vocal-forward selection of four dark and dramatic tracks, showcasing her talent as a composer, writer, and producer.
If We Seek With Intent by René G. Boscio
René G. Boscio is another friend of NE: you may have read his blog post about his scoring process, or seen the sample pack he released with our collaboration case, or even noticed his eponymous mode in our free plugin, Ruina. He’s a skilled composer with a distinct style, and often uses modular gear in his compositions – if you’re a Eurorack fan, you’ll hear some familiar timbres throughout his tracks.
Exploring his wide discography, you’ll find quite a few soundtracks as well as standalone albums, singles, and EPs. If We Seek With Intent is a beautiful six-track EP that he composed in 2020, with a selection of mostly modular instruments. The album also comes with a PDF discussing his creative processes and inspirations for each track.
CCTV EP by Radiax
Radiax is a producer based in China whose solo discography encompasses the higher-tempo side of bass music. Despite being relatively new to the scene, Radiax has already released a few EPs and has been featured on high-profile labels like UKF and DnB Allstars. Ripping sound design, wonderful percussive programming, and a clear mastery of technique make the CCTV EP an extremely enjoyable and energetic listen.
Zero Threat to the Rave by Ghorba
Ghorba is a staple of the LA synth scene, creating the FM+ event series and co-founding the FeM Synth Lab, as well as being an immensely talented DJ and producer. Illustrating that talent, Zero Threat to the Rave is an album that was recorded entirely as live takes with a small collection of gear and no post production. An impressive feat to say the least, the album is a fast paced collection of techno, house, and acid.
